# Get started

The Formlabs Python SDK runs the steps you take by hand in PreForm from a Python
script: Job Setup, orienting, supports, layout, and sending the job to a printer or a
Printer Group. A script prepares every incoming order with the same settings, repeats a
job without clicking through it again, or prices a part for a quote.

The script connects to the PreForm window you have open, and each step shows up in it.
PreForm Server runs the same script with no window. The SDK also gets the tokens for
the Formlabs Web API behind Dashboard.
